Ambyr Deanna Hodges grew up building forts in Havre de Grace; a small town not far from Baltimore. As a kid, she fell in love with art. A quiet demeanor encouraged Ambyr to express herself visually rather than verbally. Her first job was painting faces as “Smiley the Clown”, which allowed eleven year old Ambyr to see the joy her talent could bring to others. In 2007 Ambyr earned her BFA in illustration from MICA. Since then she has become a professional gilder. Ambyr draws inspiration from nature, love and her countless collections that range from antique photographs to teeth. When she is not making art or frames, Ambyr enjoys building pillow forts with her best friend in their Baltimore home.
